About the Organization
Holidays for the Homeless: Savannah is organized by an independent party in Savannah, Georgia. The spirit of the project is to spread the Christmas love and cheer with those who are less fortunate, especially the homeless. According to the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless, around 4,500 people are homeless in the Savannah community. This count doesn’t even include the 1001 students identified as homeless by the Chatham County public school system.
“Last year (2017) I organized Holidays for the Holidays: Savannah. We had over 50 people come out to walk downtown and distribute over 150 gift cards and Christmas cards. Most of these folks were strangers.” – was posted on their official event page.
Volunteer Opportunity
Join us on Saturday, December 22 for the Holidays for the Homeless: Savannah. We’ll meet at Johnson Square in downtown Savannah at 12 noon and then hit the streets spreading Christmas cheer. Can’t join us for the afternoon? Please consider donating a gift or gift card so that we may purchase a gift from a homeless person. We’ll be happy to present it to them in your name.
And if you aren’t in the position to donate, even just sharing information about our project and helping to get the word out there helps! Thank you so much in advance for your generosity and kindness. For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 912.856.9075
